Tryouts & Registration
When are tryouts held? +
Tryouts are held each year in the late fall or early winter, in accordance with Volleyball BC's rules and regulations for that specific year. Clubs typically receive the permitted tryout dates by age category in early to mid-September. Ascent will announce tryout dates and times for each age and gender group on Instagram and the website as soon as possible after Volleyball BC releases the dates.
How do I register for tryouts? +
Registration is completed online through our club registration system. A link will be made available when tryouts open. There is a small tryout fee.
What should my athlete bring to tryouts? +
Athletes should bring court shoes, knee pads, athletic clothing, a water bottle, and a positive attitude. Athletes can expect to participate in warm-up, drills, and game play under the guidance of coaches.
What if my athlete cannot attend tryouts? +

Teams & Fees
What teams will you offer for the 2026–27 club season? +
For the 2026–27 club season, we have confirmed one 12U girls team, two 13U girls teams, one 13U boys team, and one 15U girls team.
How much are club fees? +
For the 2026–27 club season, club fees are $2,000 per 12U athlete, $2,200 per 13U athlete, and $3,000 per 15U athlete.
What Club Fees Cover
What do club fees cover? +
- Coaching honorariums.
- Coaches' registration and Volleyball BC course certification fees.
- Within-province out-of-town accommodation, transportation, and food allowances for coaches.
- Athlete Volleyball BC registration fees.
- Team tournament registration fees for Volleyball BC Regionals, VBC Provincials, and VBC Super Series.
- Registration fees for two play dates.
- Coach training on key ACT and mindfulness concepts, including how to incorporate these principles effectively into practices, plus open communication with a counsellor trained at the master's level.
- Parent video explanations of key ACT and mindfulness concepts and how they are integrated into practices, plus video training on communication strategies with athletes before, during, and after practices and competitions.
- Athlete programming including individual team mental health training sessions, perceptual cognitive training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness training, team leadership fundamentals, and additional techniques based on team requirements.
- Integrated training during practices and before, during, and after competition for 12U–14U athletes. For 15U–18U athletes, this training is incorporated during strength and conditioning practices.
- Additional individual sessions at a discounted rate for Ascent athletes who want or need more mental health training tools.
- Practice gym rentals and volleyball training.
- Two team practices per week for 12U–14U teams.
- Two team practices per week plus one team strength and conditioning and mental performance training practice for 15U–18U teams.
- A season-end club celebration.
